Junk Gypsy isn’t a store. It’s an experience. A vibe. A whole mood wrapped in cowboy boots and Christmas lights and the kind of creative chaos that makes you want to redecorate your entire house the second you walk through the door.
Founded by sisters Jolie and Amie Sikes, Junk Gypsy started as a love of flea markets and a belief that one person’s trash is genuinely another person’s treasure. What began as a grassroots operation has turned into a nationally recognized lifestyle brand with a world headquarters right here on Highway 237 between Round Top and Warrenton.
If you haven’t been, picture this: whimsical displays made from thrifted finds, cowboy-chic home goods and fashion, an Airstream on the lawn, live music on the front porch, food trucks keeping everyone fed, cocktail bars keeping everyone happy, and the kind of energy that makes you forget you were supposed to be somewhere else an hour ago.
"We believe every man’s trash is truly our treasure, junking is a way of life, and garage sales are our Rodeo Drive."
Jolie and Amie didn’t go to design school. They went to garage sales.
The Junk Gypsy Company was born in 1998 when Amie, Jolie, and their mom Janie turned a shared flea market obsession into a business. Their entire aesthetic was built from the ground up on instinct, creativity, and a deep appreciation for things with history and character. They describe themselves as purveyors of the world’s finest junk, and honestly, that’s a pretty perfect summary.
That scrappy, authentic approach resonated with people in a massive way. They’ve done design work for celebrities, starred in their own HGTV series (Junk Gypsies), written a New York Times best-selling book (Junk Gypsy: Designing a Life at the Crossroads of Wonder & Wander), partnered with Pottery Barn, and built a brand that goes way beyond Round Top. Miranda Lambert, the Duck Dynasty family, and country music stars have all worked with the Junk Gypsy team.
In January 2026, Junk Gypsy was named to Country Living’s Country Design 100, a curated list celebrating the designers and creatives shaping the future of country style, alongside names like Martha Stewart, Joanna Gaines, and Leanne Ford. That kind of recognition doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when you stay true to your roots for over two decades and build something that means something to people.
The Sikes family stumbled on Round Top about eighteen years ago. They came for the antiques show and the town claimed their hearts. Eventually and improbably, Round Top became home.
A close friend who specialized in real estate helped them search for the right property. They traveled all over Texas looking for the perfect spot, and then one Saturday morning Amie got an unexpected call: he was standing on the property they were supposed to have. The family loaded up and drove to Round Top. It was love at first sight.
The property came together in pieces. First came the ten acres that became Junk Gypsy World Headquarters. Then, as they finished building the store, the remainder became available at a price that worked. In 2013, on the Sunday concluding their first week of business at the store, the family gathered at the fence dividing the two parcels. Together they cut the barbed wire, cried happy tears, and consolidated their dream.
Today the Junk Gypsy property spans sixty acres and includes a working Texas Longhorn ranch, the 7,500-square-foot flagship store, the Wander Inn, event spaces, and the kind of creative compound that feels like stepping into the sisters’ imagination made real.
The store itself is a curated explosion of cowboy-chic style. Refurbished vintage finds, home goods, clothing, boots, jewelry, candles, neon signs, and whimsical pieces you won’t find anywhere else. Every display tells a story, and somehow the whole place makes you feel like you need things you didn’t know existed five minutes ago.
The 7,500-square-foot flagship store is built from reclaimed wood and vintage finds. Walk past the pink Suburban parked on the highway, through the front door lined with vintage china plates, and into a space where glam chandeliers hang above hand-painted signs, velvet sofas, and curated collections that are pure Junk Gypsy. The boot corner alone could keep you busy for an hour.
During show season, the experience expands well beyond the store walls. Visiting vendors set up on the lawn selling everything from vintage clothing and handwoven rugs to custom leather goods and artisan jewelry. Food trucks like Local Roots serve up Southern favorites. Lady Elaine mixes cocktails from her Airstream. And the front porch hosts live music that makes the whole scene feel like the best backyard party you’ve ever been to.
Past show seasons have brought pop-ups from brands like Tecovas, Kendra Scott’s Yellow Rose line, Rodeo Quincy, and more. The lineup changes every season, which is part of why people keep coming back.
Junk Gypsy is famous for throwing some of the most talked-about events at Round Top, and the crown jewel is the Junk-O-Rama Prom.
What started as a simple tribute to forgotten prom dresses one night at the flea market has become a cultural event. The sisters noticed the forgotten beauty of a pile of vintage prom dresses, scooped them up, and hosted their own little prom under the Texas stars. Years later, Junk-O-Rama Prom has become a legendary night that people plan entire trips around.
Every show brings a new theme, and people show up in the most creative, over-the-top outfits you can imagine. Recent themes have included Under the Sea, Practical Magic: Season of the Witch, Pretty in Pink, and Runaway Bridezilla. Think sequins, cowboy hats, tulle, vintage dresses, and boots that were made for dancing. Live music, food from vendors like Goode Co, and cocktails from Lady Elaine’s Airstream keep the party going. Prom tickets regularly sell out, so if you want to experience it, follow their social media for announcements and act fast.
Beyond prom, the calendar includes book signings, charity events, fashion shows, the WANDXR Adventure Retreat (a women’s powersport event in partnership with Ride Wild), celebrity collaborations, and special pop-ups each season.
The lineup is always evolving, which keeps every show feeling fresh.
Junk-O-Rama Prom is the kind of night where strangers become friends by midnight and nobody takes themselves too seriously.
Most people visit Junk Gypsy for a few hours. Some people get to stay. The Wander Inn sits on the back forty of the sixty-acre Junk Gypsy property, in the middle of a working Texas Longhorn ranch among the rolling hills of Round Top. It’s not about luxury. It’s about the land, the road, and the experience of a place designed with soul by the same people who built everything else on this property.
The inn is comprised of two Texas-style cedar ranch houses, the Star House and the Crown House, each offering four ensuite guest rooms. Expansive porches outfitted with rocking chairs on both levels look out over pasture views and big Texas sunsets. Every room has been styled by the Junk Gypsy family with found treasures, vintage quilts, hand-painted signs, and the kind of details that tell a story.
The Gypsy Farmhouse is a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath retreat in a 1952 Sears kit house that was the original farmhouse on the property. And the newest addition, Thelma’s Garage, is a 576-square-foot space with an industrial chic feel inspired by Thelma & Louise, complete with a large wall graphic of a shirtless Brad Pitt. Each room is different. Each room has a name and a personality. And every morning, fresh homemade biscuits are delivered to your door.
The communal firepit is where guests gather after long days in the fields, sharing stories and roasting s’mores under the stars. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down in a way that feels effortless.

The store is worth visiting any time of year, but show season is when Junk Gypsy goes all out. If you’re bringing kids, this is one of the most family-friendly and entertaining stops on the highway. The energy is infectious regardless of your age. The Longhorns on the property are visible from the grounds, and the entire compound has a welcoming, come-as-you-are atmosphere.
One thing to watch: hours can shift, especially on Sundays and during the off-season. Always check their Instagram or call ahead before making a special trip outside of regular show hours.
Round Top Finds Pro Tip: Even if you aren’t a “junk” person, go anyway. The energy alone is worth the stop. And you will probably leave with something you love, even if you walked in swearing you wouldn’t buy anything. If you’re planning to attend Junk-O-Rama Prom, buy tickets the day they drop. They sell out every single time.
