Spotted at Blue Hills
As shows come and go, so do trends. So with a new show, of course, come recurring trends and the start of new ones. So what patterns am I seeing in both shoppers’ and vendors’ show style?
Blue Hills is a venue for everyone. From European & American antiques to original art to vintage fashion and big brands like Sendero, Hunter Bell, and Lucchese, you can trek through the gravel that surrounds this venue for hours and find something that fits your style!
As one of the most popular venues here at Round Top, Blue Hills sees a large number of customers coming through its gates every day. As a vendor, I get the joy of meeting lots of faces, so I’ve been keeping track of the fashion moments I keep seeing.
From Vintage Levi’s to one-of-a-kind jewelry, I’ve curated a list of the trends I’ve seen the most so far this show!
Jackets, skirts, purses…You name it, and it’s got fringe. All across the board, this is the number one thing I’m seeing the girls, and even some guys, wearing out in the blue barns. Whether it’s the statement piece or simply an accessory, fringe is officially in this season.
What I love most about this trend is just how timeless it is. Fringe is something that dates back decades. Not only does it fit different eras of life, but it’s a true western staple. Looking for that Ralph Lauren-Americana look? Fringe. Need a fun way to add a western touch to your Round Top fit? Fringe. It was trending in the seventies, it was trending in 2016, and it’s still trending now.
So, how are the girls styling it? Other than the obvious choice: your own personal style, I’ve seen a fringe jacket paired with a maxi skirt, a denim button-up tucked into a fringe skirt, or your go-to antiquing dress with a fringe crossbody bag to carry the cash for your sweet finds.
There are so many fun ways to bring fringe into your life, so give it a try and hit the fields running!
With the first two days giving a hint of fall in Round Top, Texas, I saw a lot of layers on opening weekend. The Texans seized their moment to pull out their finest coats, and boy did they show up!
I saw the most beautiful, one-of-a-kind jackets I think I’ve ever seen. From quilts to dusters to denim, everyone was on their A-game. So what makes these jackets so special compared to something you could buy from a department store?
Easy. They’re one-of-a-kind. Each and every jacket I saw was something that took my breath away because I knew that it hadn’t been done before. Even so many of the quilt jackets I saw were patterns and colors I had yet to see. And the denim jackets weren’t your basic jean jacket. They were personalized with patchwork, embroidery, and unexpected silhouettes that are made to feel fresh rather than ordinary.
That’s what makes Round Top fashion so unique. It’s that the people understand the art behind it all, and they’re willing to invest in something that will become an heirloom piece, rather than tossing it in the garage sale pile two years down the road.
I am a long-time believer in belting an outfit. I truly think the right belt can take your outfit to the next level. Not only does the belt itself make a statement, but it creates a different silhouette to the outfit that was just what you were missing.
Belts have always been a thing, of course. But this fall, I’m seeing them more and more. They’re bigger and bolder, and I am one hundred percent here for it.
From vintage leather and old 4-H buckles to new snakeskin and handmade Guatemalan grain leather, belts are a closet staple.
You can wear them casually, with relaxed denim and a tucked-in tee. Or something a bit more formal, like a maxi dress. Maybe even try a more chic take on it with an oversized blazer. If you feel like your outfit is missing something but can’t quite place what, a belt may be just what you need.
Printed jeans, embroidered denim, cut-outs & patches. A classic denim will always be in style, but lately we’re seeing just how fun pants can be.
This show, I’m seeing more and more prints and patterns in terms of pants. Gone are the Vintage Wranglers; hello zebra print. Now, those vintage classics are of course still in style, but I’ve seen lots of women branching out this fall, unafraid to use a camouflage barrel jean as a neutral.
What makes this trend so exciting is that denim is no longer just the foundation of an outfit; it can be the main event. The best part is that you don’t have to completely reinvent your wardrobe to try this trend. Let your jeans do the talking by pairing them with a simple top and your favorite boots, or lean into the unexpected by mixing patterns, textures, and accessories.
And that’s what I love about Round Top fashion. The creativity and pushing of boundaries that make getting dressed so much fun!
If there’s one accessory that feels right at home in Round Top, it’s a vintage leather purse. This fall, I’m definitely seeing Western-inspired styles, from beautifully tooled leather to unique silhouettes that feel like they’ve got a story of their own.
There’s something so special about a vintage leather bag; knowing that it carries the past of its previous owners wherever it goes next. The worn-in texture, the details, and the character that come with age and wear make each piece feel a little different from the next.
These aren’t the bags you buy just to match one outfit; they’re the kind of pieces you can carry for years to come and make your own story along the way.
Of course, Western doesn’t have to mean head-to-toe cowboy. A tooled leather purse can look just as good paired with a simple pair of jeans and a white tee as it can with cowboy boots and a more traditional Western look. It’s an easy way to incorporate a little vintage character into not only your Round Top OOTD, but your everyday wardrobe too!
And while these five trends stood out to me this fall, they’re only a small glimpse of the creativity you’ll find around Round Top. From statement jackets to unexpected denim and vintage accessories, the fashion here is a reminder that getting dressed should be just as fun as finding the pieces themselves.
What I love most about Round Top is that no two people approach style the same way. You’ll see vintage staples mixed with modern trends, bold statement pieces paired with everyday basics, and outfits that feel entirely their own. There’s no single formula for getting dressed here, and that’s exactly what makes it so special.
So, as you make your way through the fields and booths this season, keep an eye out for the pieces that speak to you. Whether you leave with a one-of-a-kind jacket, a new favorite pair of jeans, or a vintage leather purse you’ll carry for years, the best finds are the ones that feel like you.
